LehmanBrown Support the ACCA 2015 Job Hunting Competition across China

The 12th Annual ACCA Job Hunting Competition took place on 8th May. The top 24 finalists from six university teams joined the Beijing Final, which were selected from around 500 applicants from universities all over Northern China.

The two-month long competition gained support from over 30 companies, with national sponsors and regional internship sponsors, including LehmanBrown, PwC, EY, Hainan Airlines, GE, Ruihua, Lenovo, DHL and many more.

After three hours of fierce competition, Tianjin University of Finance and Economics emerged victorious. Xi’an Jiaotong University and Ocean University of China received the first and second runners up prizes respectively, while Junting Zhou from Dongbei University of Finance and Economics won the Best Individual for her outstanding performance.

During the final, each team spoke for 16 minutes on the acquisition of Shenzhen Development Bank (SDB) by Ping An Insurance Group Co, presenting their financial analysis, before answering challenging questions from the panel of judges for a further five minutes.

LehmanBrown’s Director of Marketing & Communications has been prominently involved in the event for a number of years, providing the candidates with training on their financial presentation skills as well as sitting on the panel of judges for the final.

He remarked; “The ACCA JHC is a competition that showcases some of the finest future finance professionals in China. Every year, the competition seems to get more intense and the level is consistently high. In terms of who we see pass through the competition, it is not surprise that many have gone on to develop high-flying careers at the Big Four and other leading accounting firms. They all have outstanding presentation skills and exhibit abilities at such a young age to present in a second language, to professionals under great pressure. This will stand them in good stead for the business world and take them into leadership positions. LehmanBrown were delighted once again to support such a competitive event and we look forward to offering candidates future opportunities within our firm.”

LehmanBrown also took our support of the JHC to other cities, providing internships to candidates in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou regional finals. We look forward to once again being part of next year’s competition and wish all Grand Finalists the very best of luck.
