CSR in China: Why To Do It & How To Do It Well

As Chinese companies increasingly go global, they are being held to international norms – of which corporate philanthropy is an increasingly important part. But following a number of scandals over the past decade, which stalled the development of the charitable sector in China, there is limited guidance available for how companies can best carry out philanthropic initiatives.

Hot on the heels of the inaugural China CSR Awards, the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) and the British Chamber of Commerce in China (BritCham) are holding an event CSR in China: Why To Do It & How To Do It Well, bringing together some of the most knowledgeable CSR practitioners – from both MNCs and Chinese companies – to discuss the benefits of CSR, reveal how best to measure the effects of a CSR strategy, explore ways to promote CSR initiatives and much more besides.

Also featured at the event will be CKGSB Professor of Marketing Zhu Rui (Juliet), pioneer of the first compulsory EMBA philanthropy module in China, who will discuss an innovative CSR initiative she led with some CKGSB alumni that enabled some local villagers in Gansu province to raise their annual incomes by 35%.
