LehmanBrown Corporate Social Responsibility
At LehmanBrown, we believe that being a socially responsible organisation is one of our key pillars for success. From organising the British Charity Ball, to other leading other significant fundraising activities and pro bono services in appropriate circumstances, we understand our commitment to the local society in the markets we operate in.
Annually, we select one or two primary causes to support with activities to raise both awareness and funding through activities by engaging our staff and when appropriate, our clients.
Pro Bono Support Services
LehmanBrown wholeheartedly believes in supporting the work of community projects in China. We support various projects in the regions of Beijing, Shanghai, the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong and are always aspiring to help out more.
The Beijing British Ball
The Beijing British Ball is a significant community event in Beijing, largely organised by the team here at LehmanBrown in our spare time and during office hours. With the support of the business and diplomatic communities, the ball has grown to be the leading community ball event in Beijing and has the support of the business and diplomatic communities. We have been presented with numerous awards commending us for our work on this project.
St. George’s Day and Dinner
St. George’s Day is the national day of England. Although not widely celebrated in England, we use this event is to celebrate St. George and Englishness while encouraging and providing a platform for networking within the Beijing community. Besides England, other nations and territories that celebrate this day include Georgia, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Catalonia.
St. George’s Day Dinner is an annual community networking dinner which has been running for over 10 years in Beijing and focuses on food and banter, with a traditional English 6 course meal and comedians from the UK.
Rotary in China has a long history dating back to 1919. Since the beginning, the focus of the Rotary clubs, the Rotarians and their good works in China have been focused on providing meaningful community service and espousing strong business ethics in the workplace.
LehmanBrown and Rotary have a strong relationship and history of working together on fundraiser events and supporting local causes.
In recent years, LehmanBrown has been actively supporting charities, including:
The Migrant Children Foundation
The MCF is a non-profit organisation (Registered Charity Number 1154709 MIGRANT CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION UK) that aims to enrich the lives of disadvantaged children in China through its volunteering.
A MCF cornerstone is the life-enhancing Health Check-up Program. This project is run in conjunction with the GlobalCare Hospital and the migrant schools where MCF transports children to the hospital. They receive a full health checkup that is paid for by the MCF and LehmanBrown amongst other sponsors. To date, 310 children have benefited from the extensive health checks while one life was substantially lengthened and enhanced thanks to the early detection of heart challenges.
Every year, Little Flower works with 30 – 40 different state run orphanages across China to identify babies in fragile situations, provide needed intensive care, intervene in their life-threatening medical problems and put babies on the path to adoption. The majority of babies in their care have gone on to grow up healthy and happy in a family of their own. We at LehmanBrown are honoured to work with such a cause and have been able to support Little Flower through our St. George’s Charity Dinner fundraiser and The British Charity Ball.
Roundabout is a social enterprise headed by volunteers. They provide a free service connecting those who wish to give, be that monetary or otherwise, to those in need. With its first store opening in 2008, Roundabout became the first charity store in mainland China. They now give support to 48 charitable organizations in the Beijing area and many more throughout China and Mongolia.
